These are the 3 Cheapest Grocery Stores in South Florida

We conducted an analysis on the various prices of different categories between grocery stores across South Florida and were able to come up with a possible determination of the 4 cheapest grocery stores available (as well as the most expensive). For the analysis, we ignored all temporary sales, searched for the vendor’s cheapest product (which usually happened to be their own branded products), and used standard units of measurement to calculate averages (as some wholesaler grocers sell larger quantities).

Based on the report, we determined that the 3 cheapest vendors are:

Walmart

Walmart beat out every vendor significantly in almost all food categories. By far the best deals available across any grocery store.

Aldi

Aldi’s comes a close second to Walmart. You can expect slightly cheaper prices on meats compared to Walmart, as well as some fruits and vegetables. You may prefer Aldi’s quicker, and more friendly shopping experience as compared to a big-box store such as Walmart.

Sam’s Club

As far as wholesalers go, Sam’s Club is the clear winner in most categories. Sam’s Club benefits from lower prices, due to Walmart’s ownership. Expect significant savings across all categories of items, but at the cost of requiring to buy items in bulk quantities.

On the contrary, the most expensive vendor on the report appears to be…*drum roll*:

Fresh Market

Fresh Market is by far the most expensive grocery store shown on the report. Almost all categories of products are listed as the most expensive. Some product categories are listed as multiple times higher than some of the other vendors shown on the report.

Some notes and various observations:

  • Fresh Market has by far the most expensive white rice on the list, at $16.98/5 lbs. That is over 5 times the cost of Walmart’s white rice.
  • Wholesalers such as Costco and Sam’s appear to offer the best deals on meats overall.
  • Grocer’s with more in-store brands (such as Costco’s Kirkland, Whole Food’s “365” brand, and Publix store brands) will beat out other vendor’s in terms of lower pricing, which appears to be Walmart’s case, with their “Great Value” brands.
  • Publix appears to have considerably more expensive meat, and produce.
